Stewart County Busted Mugshots is a private reference service, not a government office. It cannot confirm custody, release anyone, post bond, or pull an official booking record. Current custody and record requests must go to the Sheriff, police department, court, corrections agency, ICE, or other office that holds the record.
Where a Stewart County Record Lives
For a Stewart County Jail booking sheet or photograph, begin with the Stewart County Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff Larry Jones is identified in the current agency material. The office does not publish a dedicated online booking-photo form, so call for the current records custodian and request an existing record under the Georgia Open Records Act.

General county request route
The county’s form lists the County Clerk and Commissioners at P.O. Box 157, Lumpkin, GA 31815.
It lists the county Open Records form, a county email, and a fax. Ask the Sheriff first for jail records.
The Sheriff FAQ also lists (229) 838-4393 for available incident and crash reports. A nonparty may not be able to obtain a crash report. Research and reproduction charges allowed by law may apply, but no booking-photo-specific fee is published.
Choose the Right Office
Use the record type and custody state to decide where to ask. The Stewart County records search explains the full path; these short routes help with a first call.
- For a booking photo, booking sheet, current county custody, or release entry, contact the Stewart County Sheriff. The office may need a full name, date, arresting agency, or booking number.
- For a Richland incident report, call Richland Police at (229) 887-3530 or City Hall at (229) 887-3323 and confirm the current records custodian.
- For a Lumpkin incident report, call City Hall at (229) 838-4333 and confirm whether the police report is held by the city or routed through the sheriff.
- For a sentenced state prisoner’s record or corrections image, use the Georgia Department of Corrections offender query, its GDC search information, and its Open Records route at GDC Open Records.
- For a federal criminal prisoner, use the BOP locator. For an immigration detainee at Stewart Detention Center, use the ICE locator. These are not county-jail records.
- For a court result, case number, hearing, dismissal, plea, or sentence, ask the relevant clerk or use the Georgia Courts access route, the Judicial Gateway, or the Stewart County Clerk directory.
- For a selected event story, GBI release, or local report, start with the Arrest News page, then verify the originating agency and court.
Ask for an existing record instead of asking an office to explain a case or assemble a new county-wide list. A useful request names the person, approximate event date, arresting agency, and the documents sought. Request electronic delivery, a cost estimate, segregable nonexempt portions, and the legal basis for any withholding.
The county form says the first 15 minutes of administrative work are free, later work uses the lowest-paid qualified employee rate, copies are $0.10 per letter or legal page, a CD is $5, and postage may apply. Those terms are not a guaranteed Sheriff fee for a booking image. The Georgia Open Records Act generally calls for a response within three business days, but that response may provide a timetable or estimate rather than the final file.
A booking charge is an allegation. When the record matters, obtain the case number and follow it to the court disposition. The Georgia Open Records Act guidance explains the public-request framework. Do not treat release from jail, a missing web result, or a commercial photo as the legal ending.
For older federal records, the National Archives at Atlanta is a separate research route. Federal files do not become Stewart County records just because a facility is located in Lumpkin.
